yes, a documentary.

upon arriving in lancaster from my home in lafayette, la, i discovered what i thought was an anomaly. when asked, many were surprised i wanted to do a film on it. upon beginning the interview and research process, i found a number of individuals whose adult lives had been germinated at the venue and who cherished it's existence and history. i plan on making public the very vibrant and colorful history of a venue that despite all odds... exists and fuels an entire regional scene.

the production:

"the chameleon club" is an independent documentary film. there are, as of yet, no backers or investors. this is simply a story that i want to tell about the history and uniqueness of the venue. the interviews are filmed (taped) in 16:9/color on 3CCD DV... what is considered by some to be a "pro-sumer" format. aside from myself, i have help from a number of volunteers who are becoming an integral part of the film. ultimately, "the chameleon club" will be edited for DVD production as well as independent film festivals. filming began on 8/10/2005. scheduled completion is currently between spring and fall of 2007

the subjects:

subjects of the documentary, aside from the club itself, include original owner Rich Ruoff and many former staff members. also documented are present-day patrons and staff as well as a number of bands who have made the chameleon a second home and have benefited from its being.
